Location
So I just finished talking to Susan and God just very clearly convicted me of something. Its funny but when I talk to Susan I sometimes get a very clear message from God. This conviction was about location. Yesterday a speaker, Glenn Kurka (I think that's how you spell his name), came and spoke to us about what it means to really have beautiful feet. He talked about the world and the people of the world. How most of the time people want to preach to others in a comfortable and safe location. But as I talked to Susan I realized (even though I sort of new this before), there is no safe location. Our lives are not guaranteed and it really doesn't matter where we are because at the end...God will call us to Him when He wants to call us no matter where we are. Also about safety. As people we may think we are safer in one place from torture, theft, murder, etc, but the truth is no one is safe from these things. Even in the U.S you are likely to go through these things. When I think about Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and many other people from the Bible the location that they wanted to go for safety, either from starvation or death, wasn't really safer. The only reason they came out of these so called "safe places" (for lack of a better word) safely was because of God. So it isn't the location, it is God. It is all God. I'm just thinking about this because of mission. I don't know where God may lead me, but I have to trust that no matter where I may go the location is not going to be important. It is faith in God and how He leads that will be the important part.

This is true... I remember Mark Driscoll talked about how Elimelech (Naomi's husband) in Ruth 1 moved his family to Moab to escape from the famine, and we can assume he allowed his sons to marry Moabite women, thus disobeying God. But yet he and his sons all died. God is in control of history, and we need to trust Him.
but yet.. such a struggle of faith! we need to pray to really have this faith that pleases God!
well said!!! :) it helps put things in perspective when it comes to simple obedience.
